How it started

Cambridge university

I read music at Cambridge university, where I recorded for BBC Radio 3 and was a member of the audition-only Cambridge University Choir. I have sung in countless performances and productions throughout my 20 year career within the singing and performance industry.

As well as performing and conducting regularly, I have  a thriving private teaching practice. I work with singers online and face to face, wronging from my purpose built singing studio at my Hampshire home.

About Me

I work in a multidisciplinary way, using Bel Canto, DalcrozeEstill, SLS, Accent Methods and Alexander Techniques within my teaching.  I also ensure my education and practice is up to date, working with leading voice pedagogues worldwide to keep my own understanding and practice current. I am very client-centred in my approach, paying full attention to my clients aims and ambitions and moulding those into a framework for optimum progress. My own innovative style combining with those vast knowledge of a wide variety of established methodologies, ensures that maximum progress is made in minimum time.

Accustomed to working in all styles, I have prepared singers for Operatic Roles and Contemporary performances alike. Recent and current clients of mine can be found performing as regular artists on the West End and Opera Companies. A number of my clients have also gained places at Royal Conservatories across UK and Europe studying voice, as well as those now studying at commercial and Musical Theatre institutions such as Mountview BIMM, LIPA, and The Bird.

How I can help you

I understand that the voice is a sum of its component parts and that when one is out of balance, it can affect the voice adversely. My excellent knowledge base, my advanced understanding of anatomy and ways to avoid vocal abuse and misuse, make me a sought after teacher, and one who has been hailed as an inspiration of my generation.

For the last five years, I have been selected to work as Vocal Professor and Chorus Director to the Royal Marines Band Service & School of Music in Portsmouth. In addition, I work as Vocal Consultant and Singing Teacher to the Royal Marines Band Service, working on their 1000+ performances throughout the year. I haves most recently conducted the Royal Marines Choir and prepared  soloists for concerts in the Royal Albert Hall.

I am also an Artistic Director for Luminosa Music, a consortium of four choirs, ranging from a professional chamber choir, an 80 strong adult choir and two youth choirs.

Lessons with me are awe-inspiring, life affirming, challenging and fun. Watch this video to learn more.
